Instruction On Belaying Basics

Belaying is the technique of securing and protecting a climber by using a rope to support the climber’s weight if he falls. Belaying is also known as “rope work.” Climbers who have taken the time to learn how to belay can utilize all of the top rope stations in the climbing gym, expanding their climbing options beyond just bouldering and using the auto belays. Belaying is an important part of the climbing safety chain and one of the most important skills that every climber needs to master.

If you are new to climbing or feel like you need a refresher on belaying, this class is a wonderful alternative for you. This is an excellent choice for members of the same family who would want to take turns belaying one another. Belaying is a skill that may be learned at any age. However, the minimum age to participate in a lesson is 11, and children under 14 need to have a parent present.

The session will discuss a variety of subjects, including

  • Equipment used
