Claudia’s artful eye seamlessly combines climbing and nature.

While Austrian-born Claudia Ziegler loves to climb, she’s better known for her mesmerizing images of climbers, mountain bikers, and skiers. Her fascination with photography began at age six when her parents gave her a camera, and over several decades she has made a life of shooting in her unique style, which she calls “dynamic photography.” She tells us, “It was not until I was 20 that I realized that photography is what I wanted to do. I never thought that I could make a living out of my passion, but my urge was so great that I had no other choice but to follow it.” Her incredible drive and vision are so clearly evident as you scroll through her website or flip through the pages of her latest book, The Young Savages.

It’s powerful stuff—it turns a mindless instagram sesh into an inspirational experience in an instant. All made possible by the people behind the lens. Their art helps us see more of the world than we could ever cover, stand in other’s [climbing] shoes and blurs the lines between cultures, geographies and people.

Photography Feature with Becca Skinner

Freelance photographer and writer, Becca Skinner, is one of those rare people who’s figured out how to have a successful career that she loves and a life spent exploring beautiful places. And she’s 22, yes, only 22! Growing up in the Rocky Mountains and being a long time climber has given Becca an appreciation for adventure that comes through clearly in her work and lifestyle. She spends much of her time traveling the country with her dog Vedauwoo, telling stories through photography, and is known to have a banjo, surfboard and climbing rope on hand. While last week we took a look to the past with Mary Behan, today we’re looking ahead with Becca, whose story is just beginning.
