1. YMCA
Rock climbing, in addition to developing overall strength, aids in the development of balance and coordination. Climbing is an activity that may help you increase your endurance while also providing an exciting challenge. On our indoor rock walls, youngsters may safely practice climbing methods and abilities.
The Boll Family YMCA climbing wall is a completely natural, smooth rock face with climbing routes designed for novice to experienced climbers. There is safety equipment (a harness with safety ropes) and certified safety personnel who can teach you the essentials. When a safety teacher is present, the climbing wall is open. The rock wall is also available for rent for parties and other occasions.
2. Troy Gymnastics
Troy Gymnastics was founded in the spring of 2005 by Toby and Julie. They made an offer on the existing TG1 facility in September and formally acquired it the day before Thanksgiving. The building reopened for business on January 28, 2006, after barely two months of renovations.
The Munchkin Ropes Course at Troy Gymnastics is the ideal indoor activity — even the most hesitant climbers will dash through it before the finish! The Munchkin course is ideal for children aged 2 to 7, as they must be able to maneuver their harnesses through the equipment. Troy Gymnastics also provides a High Ropes Course for children aged 8 and up.

3. DYNO Detroit
Visit DYNO Detroit, Detroit’s first and only climbing gym, in Eastern Market. Climbing the colorful and intricate courses may be learned by children as young as five years old. Walls ranging in height from 12 to 45 feet are masterfully built to inspire and challenge climbers of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned stone master testing your boundaries, their walls range from 12 to 45 feet high and are precisely constructed to inspire and challenge climbers of all abilities.
Enter DYNO Detroit, a cutting-edge indoor rock climbing gym in the heart of Detroit. This is the city’s first indoor rock climbing gym, and it is one of the greatest climbing gyms in our view.
During the winter in the Midwest, you may need to think outside the box to find something to do indoors with your pals that isn’t bowling or going to the movies. Even if you’ve never climbed before, this is one of the most interesting, entertaining, and demanding group activities in the Detroit region!

4. Ford Community and Performing Arts Center
On this custom-designed rock wall, you’ll find dihedrals, arêtes (aka jagged mountain ridges), endurance routes, and a 10–15-degree overhang. Kids ages 6 to 12 can participate in the daily “Top Climber” Youth Wall Program to win prizes and be recognized on the spot’s scoreboard.

5. Planet Rock
Planet Rock prioritizes safety, and safety begins with adequate education and training. Before climbing inside either of the gyms, all first-time visitors must attend a Starter Lesson or pass a belay check (test of belay abilities). Starter Lessons must be planned in advance, either online or over the phone. The class costs $45 per person and includes rental equipment as well as a day permit to climb within the facility following the instruction. They provide beginner sessions at both sites every day of the week, although schedules and availability are subject to vary. The minimum age for this class is 16 years old.

Outdoor Rock Climbing
What is most intriguing and unexpected about Michigan’s climbing activity is that there are outdoor areas with actual rock faces to be scaled.
6. Grand Ledge
Grand Ledge is located near Lansing, 5 miles south of I-96, where good signage will take you to Oak Park — the site of the Lower Peninsula’s sole natural cliff-face. The disadvantage of Grand Ledge is that the sandstone is extremely fragile, thus there are no bolts or anchors in the rock to prevent harm to this natural beauty. Before climbing, ropes must be secured to trees on the cliff’s edge.
7. Suicide Wall
The Upper Peninsula, as one might expect, has the best climbing in Michigan. The majority of the established climbing is concentrated near Marquette, but it is also largely underground, with little to no information available online. You’d have to climb with someone who knows the region to uncover these hidden jewels. Suicide Wall, on the other hand, is on everyone’s list of famous and well-known walls in the UP.
8. Little Presque
Little Presque Isle, located 7 miles northwest of downtown Marquette, is another local favorite. Little Presque is a 100-yard-long island accessible by wading in waist-deep water. Little Presque is only known for boulder climbing, which is done without a rope on enormous rocks under 15 to 20 feet tall. Little Presque, located right on the main river, has spectacular views.
9. Silver Mountain
Silver Mountain is Michigan’s crown gem and a serious contender for the greatest climbing in the Midwest. Silver Mountain is not for the faint of heart, but anyone courageous enough to battle the mosquitoes, and man-eating bugs will not be disappointed. The enormous cliff has the longest routes in Michigan, as well as the only multi-pitch routes.
